I’d really like to know what they’re all talking about. That’s right, we can ask two Hong Kong middle- school students to talk about politics while they have sex. That’s right, no matter what, even if they have nothing left to say, they should keep on talking.
Born 1988 in Leizhou, lives and works in Guangzhou
A conceptual artist, calligrapher and curator, SONG Ta’sworks are rooted in his observations of everyday life andsocial realities. He works with photography, video, installation, painting and performance, among other mediums and adopts a relaxed, jocular attitude in his practice. His work often weaves together systems of administration and bureaucracy with transparency,and seeks to provoke and antagonise the establishedboundaries between institutional and commercialdefinitions of art.
SONG Ta’s works have been showcased at majorinstitutions and international exhibitions such as theJulia Stoschek Collection Foundation, Düssel-dorf; Para Site Art Space, Hong Kong; Guangdong Times Art Museum; Ullens Center for Contemporary Art, Beijing; Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing; Bern Art Museum; Marres, Huis voor Hedendaagse Cultuur, Maastricht; the Cass Sculpture Foundation, England; Asian Cultural Centre, Gwangju; Centre Paul Klee, Bern; Sharjah Art Foundation; Shenzhen Sculpture Biennale, among many others. SONG Ta was awarded the ACC (Asian Cultural Association) Residency Program in New York (2015-2016).
