HUANG Weikai graduated in 1995 from the Chinese Art Department of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and started to make independent films in 2002. His films have received many awards in film festivals worldwide and are in the collections of film academies in the United States, France, Germany, Poland, etc. He was the recipient of an Asian Cultural Council/ The Jackie Chan FoundationFellowship in 2010 and was invited as a visiting scholar tothe Cinema Studies Department at the Tisch School of the Arts of New York University. In 2011, his feature film project was selected for L’Atelier de la cinéfondation at the 64th Cannes Film Festival. In 2014, his documentary Disorder(2009) was included by Time Out Magazine in their list of “the 100 Best Films Ever Made in Mainland China”.
