Vor seinem unerwarteten Tod hatte Huang Xiaopeng eng mit dem Times Art Center Berlin an einem neuen gemeinsamen Projekt mit dem Titel ANGST, KEINE ANGST<\/span> <\/em><\/span>gearbeitet, das von Januar bis Mai 2021 stattfinden soll. Das von Huang Xiaopeng initiierte Projekt <\/span>zeigt verschiedene k\u00fcnstlerische Perspektiven auf gegenw\u00e4rtige \u00c4ngste und Verunsicherungen und wird von Dorothee Albrecht, Antje Majewski und Stefan Rummel ko-kuratiert. Die Gruppenausstellung <\/span>wird sich in drei Kapiteln entfalten und bringt K\u00fcnstler*innen unterschiedlicher internationaler Herkunft, vor allem aus Berlin und Guangzhou, zusammen.\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Huang Xiaopengs Tod ist nicht nur f\u00fcr seine Familie, Freund*innen und Student*innen ein tragischer Verlust, sondern auch f\u00fcr seine Kolleg*innen und die Kunstszene, die er in den letzten Jahrzehnten enorm beeinflusst hat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Hou Hanru, Huang Xiaopengs lebenslanger Freund und k\u00fcnstlerischer Leiter des MAXXI – Nationalmuseum f\u00fcr Kunst des 21. Words like \u201cshock\u201d and \u201cgrief\u201d are not enough to describe our feelings at this moment. We are simply speechless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Xiaopeng wandered about in the world throughout his entire life, and made himself at home wherever he was despite all odds. From Shantou to Guangzhou, from Hong Kong to London, he eventually ended up in Berlin. He had a family, but then had to restart from zero. Wherever he was, he was always trying to make a living in a sort of transitional state, to deal with different languages and all sorts of cultural differences, working hard to find a place where he could settle down, while at the same time being in the process of constant translations. It was this eternal seeking that gave him the exciting and elusive inspiration to tackle the most important problem in life, and this problem was art. His favorite line was \u201cArt is a problem\u201d. He concluded that the best way to solve the problem was to translate back and forth between languages, until the original meaning was completely lost, thus allowing the possibility of \u201cfresh new meanings\u201d to emerge. Rock n\u2019 roll music video tapes and Google Translate\u2019s \u201cability to create\u201d provided him with the best materials and tools. Ultimately, through a post-Duchampian trick, he could \u201cdeconstruct these texts, and re-encode the time and space, resulting in mutual redefinition, constant accumulation and extension, so that these different contexts under the independent and unrelated elements collide with each other, and finally expand into the fragments of a whole, ending up being trapped in a language gap and lost in the infinite transmission of meanings. When translations all become political statements, Chinese and Western love songs will completely lose their original meanings in the new context, just like poetry in our age of absurdity.\u201d[1]<\/sup><\/a>All of Xiaopeng\u2019s works consisted of transforming \u201cFar East\u201d to \u201c\u6cd5\u00b7\u4f0a\u65af\u7279\u201d (Fa-Yi-Si-Te, the phonetic translation in Chinese and \u201cFar West\u201d to \u201c\u6cd5\u00b7\u5a01\u65af\u7279\u201d (Fa-Wei-Si-Te). In a post-colonial, global and AI-dominated \u201cage of absurdity\u201d that only generates more absurdities, we are eternally doomed in this \u201ccontemporary utopia\u201d and are falling into an ever-deeper abyss. And in this abyss, fear of fear has lost its meaning, we can only \u201cclimb the mountain together, with each doing his or her best.\u201d[2]<\/sup><\/a> Thus, when he was looking for the Chinese title for the exhibition he was curating in Berlin, he came up with \u201c\u754f\u7121\u6240\u754f\u201d (Fear No Fear)[3]<\/sup><\/a>.
